UFC women’s bantamweight fighter Macy Chiasson and her dog are lucky to be alive following a crazy incident in Dallas that destroyed her apartment building.
UFC women’s bantamweight and TUF: Heavy Hitters winner Macy Chiasson has suffered a personal tragedy following a bizarre accident in her hometown of Dallas. Chiasson, who is a resident on the first floor of Elan City Lights apartments in downtown Dallas, was forced to abandon her home after a massive crane collapsed onto her building on Sunday.
UFC.com spoke to Chaisson about the incident:
“I’m feeling a little shaken up and I’m definitely still in shock. I’m fortunate to be alive,” Chiasson said. “If you look at where the crane stopped, my apartment is the first apartment underneath it in the “red zone.”
Chiasson was forced to flee immediately, only grabbing her dog on the way out. According to the article, she was forced to scamper across a huge amount of broken glass and debris just to get to safety. Due to the damage caused by the incident, Chiasson was unable to return to get any of her belongings back.
“I’ve lost everything. Once I heard all the crashing and felt the shaking I looked at my dog and got out of there as fast as possible. I didn’t even have any shoes on,” Chiasson said. “It reminds you how valuable life is. You’re not replaceable, but material items are. …
“People were panicking. Apartments were completely gone. The pool, the garage, everything was destroyed. This is by far one of the craziest moments of my life.”
Chiasson (5-0, 3-0 UFC) has been forced to relocate back to Louisiana to stay with her parents in the meantime. The article states that the UFC has helped her out with items of clothing and other things she will need.
“I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to the handful of people and their families who were affected by this tragedy,” Chiasson said. “I would also like to thank the people close to me for their support, including my coach Sayif Saud who came and got me after it happened. Also the UFC, and specifically Mick Maynard, for caring about me and having my back.”
