With just a little under a week from fight night, Neil Magny has been forced out of his scheduled Welterweight showdown against Vicente Luque. Indeed, the two men were set to duke it out this Saturday night (May 18, 2019) in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 152 inside Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York.
According to MMA Junkie, Neil was forced to withdraw due to undisclosed reasons and a replacement is currently being sought.
Magny was last seen getting knocked out by Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Fight Night 140 six months ago. A win over Luque would’ve been a great opportunity to get back in the mix for Neil, as Vicente is one of the hottest 170-pounders in the promotion at the moment.
Luque has won four straight, finishing all of his opponents during that span, including a dominate knockout victory over Bryan Barberena at UFC on ESPN 1 earlier this year. Going back even further, Vicente has won eight of his last nine fights inside the Octagon.
Any suggestions as to who Neil’s replacement should be?
UFC Fight Night 152 will be headlined by a highly-intriguing Welterweight scrap that will see Rafael dos Anjos welcome Kevin Lee to the division. Also, Megan Anderson will take on Felicia Spencer, while Charles Oliveira takes on Nik Lentz. Also, Ian Heinisch will be taking on Antonio Carlos Junior in Middleweight action.
