Demian Maia will agree to play the talking game to finally get the title shot he believes is long overdue should he defeat Matt Brown at UFC 198, on May 14.
Demian Maia wants his welterweight title shot and is willing to go out his way to get it. With a fight against Matt Brown coming up, the former middleweight title challenger believes he will be the next one in line should he defeat “The Immortal.” His plan is to talk until he gets what he wants, since he believes the strategy has worked for most fighters.
“If everything goes right and they raise my hand on May 14, I will do everything to get a title shot,” Maia told Portal do Vale Tudo. “I will talk a lot, until they give me my title shot, because that’s how things work. I know they will give it to me because I will deserve it if I win my next fight.”
Maia currently rides a four-fight winning streak with victories over Alexander Yakovlev, Ryan LaFlare, Neil Magny and Gunnar Nelson. He will look to make it five in a row when he meets Matt Brown on May 14, at UFC 198, in Curitiba, Brazil. The event will be headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Fabricio Werdum and Stipe Miocic.
