California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) recently released its list of medical suspensions and injuries for those fighters competing in the UFC 311 lineup earlier this month (Sat., Jan. 18, 2025) from inside Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, with multiple athletes drawing a wide range of suspensions, according to MMA Fighting.

That includes bantamweight contender Umar Nurmagomedov, who was slapped with a six-month sit for breaking his hand during his unanimous decision loss to reigning 135-pound champion Merab Dvalishvili in the UFC 311 co-main event. “The Machine” fled the “City of Angels” with just a seven-day rest, despite this awful infection.

The following fighters escaped with a mere seven-day mandatory rest period:

Islam Makhachev
Renato Moicano
Merab Dvalishvili
Reinier de Ridder
Billy Elekena
Grant Dawson
Diego Ferreira
Azamat Bekeov
Ailin Perez
Karol Rosa
Muin Gafurov
Rinya Nakamura
Tagir Ulanbekov
Clayton Carpenter
Raoni Barcelos

The remainder of the card was not so lucky:

Umar Nurmagomedov: 7 day mandatory rest, 180 day suspension unless cleared by a physician for a possible fracture to his left hand/index finger
Jiri Prochazka: 7 day mandatory rest, 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact mandatory after a hard bout
Jamahal Hill: 7 day mandatory rest, 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact mandatory for a knockout loss. 60 day suspension, 60 days no contact unless cleared by a physician for a laceration to his nose
Kevin Holland: 7 days mandatory rest, 60 day suspension, 60 days no contact unless cleared by a physician for a laceration to his right eye
Payton Talbott: 7 days mandatory rest, 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact for a hard bout
Jailton Almeida: 7 days mandatory rest, 180 day suspension, 180 days no contact unless cleared by a physician for possible fracture to left foot.
Serghei Spivac: 7 days mandatory rest, 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact for a knockout loss. 180 day suspension, 180 days no contact unless cleared by a physician for a possible fracture to right foot and possible broken jaw.
Bogdan Guskov: 7 days mandatory rest, 180 day suspension, 180 days no contact unless cleared by a physician for possible fracture to right hand.
Zachary Reese: 7 days mandatory rest, 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact due to knockout loss
Bernardo Sopaj: 7 days mandatory rest, 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact due to a hard bout
Ricky Turcios: 7 days mandatory rest, 45 day suspension, 30 days no contact due to a hard bout

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
