Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan ‘come to terms’ for April 23rd fight

Manny Pacquiao says his camp agreed with team Amir Khan to meet in the ring on April 23.

Eight-division world boxing champion and Philippine senator Manny Pacquiao will be fighting once again this April. His opponent will apparently be his former sparring partner Amir Khan.

“Pacman” made the revelation through a recent tweet, stating his camp has come to agreement with Khan’s team.

Two weeks ago, Pacquiao put up a Twitter poll, asking the public whom they think should his next opponent be. Among the choices were Khan, Terence Crawford, Jeff Horn, and Kell Brook. 48% of respondents picked Khan, followed by the next 24% that selected Brook.

In mid-January, news about Pacquiao fighting a relatively unknown Jeff Horn made the rounds online. According to Top Rank Promotions head honcho Bob Arum, they already had an agreement with Horn at the time, but still needed Pacquiao’s approval.

Arum also stated that fight would not be in pay-per-view, and would likely be held either in Horn’s home country of Australia or in the UAE.

The 38-year-old Pacquiao came off a seven-month retirement in November 2015 to face then WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas. The Filipino boxing icon won the fight in convincing fashion, via a unanimous decision verdict.

On his last bout, Khan moved up to middleweight and was knocked out against Canelo Alvarez.

This past week, Freddie Roach hinted that a bout against Khan would likely be held in the UAE.
