ADCC medalist Vagner Rocha has been given a title shot against Mansher Khera at Polaris 11.
Polaris 11 has just got a little bit more intriguing. In addition to their main event between grappling star Ffion Davies and Talita Alencar, Bloodyelbow.com has learned that Polaris has booked a title fight between UFC veteran and ADCC medalist Vagner Rocha and the defending welterweight champion, Mansher “Munch” Khera.
Vagner Rocha is one of the most active and successful athletes in the nogi world right now and he has earned his shot at Polaris gold following wins on the show against Benson Henderson and Ross Nichols. While this bout takes place in the welterweight division, it’s interesting to note that Rocha holds a win over the current Polaris middleweight and light heavyweight champion, Craig Jones. MMA fans will best remember Rocha for his UFC stint which included a submission victory over Cody McKenzie and a decision loss to Donald Cerrone.
Munch will be looking to defend his crown against Rocha, but he’s no stranger to having to take on strong, aggressive grapplers. MMA fans might know Munch as the other grappler that was kicked out of the Marcelo Garcia Academy alongside his best friend Dillon Danis. Both Danis and Khera were booted from the gym following a disagreement with Marcelo Garcia, but since then Khera has continued to set the BJJ world alight. Munch holds wins over the likes of Oliver Taza and AJ Agazarm, but his crowning moment came when he defeated Lachlan Giles for the welterweight title at Polaris 8.
Polaris 11 goes down on August 31st in Manchester, England and will be aired live on UFC Fight Pass.
