Mark Hunt: UFC lawsuit, media misquotes real reason I got yanked from Sydney event

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight slugger, Mark Hunt, is no longer fighting Marcin Tybura at the UFC Fight Night 121 mixed martial arts (MMA) event next month in his backyard of Sydney, Australia.

That’s because the promotion yanked “Super Samoan” over concerns of brain damage, or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), after Hunt told the combat sports media he was suffering from slurred speech and loss of memory.

“The interview I did with Player’s Voice was misquoted I don’t slur my words and is a running joke between my wife and me my memory isn’t that great but who remembers shit they dont want to,” Hunt said on Instagram.

Hunt was replaced by former opponent Fabricio Werdum.

This isn’t the first time a fighter has been pulled from a UFC event following comments made about health issues. Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was yanked from UFC 207 after revealing he physically unfit to compete.

“I’m disappointed that I have been withdrawn from the fight, I have passed all medicals two days ago and spent $100,000 on camp. The truth is the legal case I have filed has caused me to be withdrawn,” Hunt said, in reference to his lawsuit against UFC for letting him fight “juiceheads.”
