The UFC fighter will join former president Donald Trump and Todd Grisham on the “gamecast” alternative feed to provide insights on the upcoming Triller Fight Club Pay-Per-View.
Former President Donald Trump will be joined by one of his favorite fighters when he calls Saturday’s boxing event headlined by Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort.
According to a press release from Triller Fight Club, Jorge Masvidal will call the entire four-fight telecast, which also includes Anderson Silva vs. Tito Ortiz and David Haye vs. Joe Fournier, alongside the former president. The duo will be joined by broadcaster Todd Grisham, while the main telecast will also feature 50 Cent.
“I love great fighters and great fights,’ Trump said in a news release ahead of Saturday’s bout. ’I look forward to seeing both this Saturday night and sharing my thoughts ringside. You won’t want to miss this special event.”
This is not the first time that Masvidal will have the opportunity to team with Trump. The UFC star shared a stage with the former president during a Latinos for Trump event in September 2020, and later became a central figure on the campaign trail when he took part in a four-part ‘Fighters Against Socialism’ bus tour hosted by Donald Trump Jr and the Trump re-election campaign. The bus tour made stops in Tampa, Orlando, Coconut Creek and Miami. The Coconut Creek event took place at the renowned American Top Team MMA gym, where dozens of fighters gathered alongside a raucous crowd to hear Masvidal relay the “horrors” of socialism while imploring attendees not to allow the Democrats to destroy American freedoms.
“Obviously I am not a politician,” Masvidal told the crowd during one of the campaign stops. “I may not be schooled in a lot of these political issues like some of you, but I do know Latinos. Latinos are not lazy people looking for a handout. Latinos don’t want free stuff, we want freedom.”
Masvidal continued to play an important role in the final days of the campaign. On Sunday, Nov. 1, Trump held a late-night rally at the Miami-Opa Locka Executive airport, where Masvidal was a featured speaker. He recited the same speech he used during the bus tour and reiterated all the same talking points about socialism, communism, and the importance of re-electing the president. And when Trump eventually lost the election, Masvidal was among the fighters who publicly questioned the election results and spread disinformation about alleged voter fraud.
Whether Trump will attempt to run for president in 2024 remains unclear. In the meantime, Masvidal will have to settle for doing “unfiltered boxing commentary” for an event headlined by two fighters with the combined age of 102.
