One of the biggest stars in the world is hoping to be at UFC 244 to wrap a belt around Jorge Masvidal’s waist.
As you probably know by now, Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal will be fighting for a unique prize in the headliner at UFC 244 – a newly-created BMF title. UFC president Dana White says it’s a one-time thing and the belt won’t be defended, but it is still working as intended – to bring more attention to the event and a bout we all want to see anyway.
The fight announcement has sparked wide-ranking interest, and one of the biggest celebrities on earth is hoping to be in attendance. Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, posted a comment on the UFC’s Instagram about the bout saying that he “will do all he can to be there for this one”. To that point, Masvidal tweeted the Rock directly with a unique request:
.@TheRock I’m telling @danawhite i want you to put it around my waist 305 all day #supernecessary https://t.co/iLVTW6i92q
— Jorge Masvidal UFC (@GamebredFighter) September 9, 2019
And Johnson responded:
Doing all I can to make this fight. If I can and you win, I’ll put the belt around your waist at MSG – consider it done. Already shaping up to be one of the biggest and most electrifying fights in @ufc history. Can’t wait. @GamebredFighter @NateDiaz209 #respect #BMF #UFC244 ?? https://t.co/nVTIeBtkgv

Johnson has strong roots in Miami, spending part of his childhood there and attending the University of Miami to play football. So that’s the 305 connection Masvidal is referencing.
If the UFC could make that work, it would add even more of a draw to the November 2nd event in Madison Square Garden in New York.
