Following his TKO loss to Kamaru Usman, Jorge Masvidal struggles to see how Colby Covington will return to the cage.

Once teammates and now enemies, Jorge Masvidal doesn’t think Colby Covington will come back after his UFC 245 loss to Kamaru Usman.

Covington lost by fifth round stoppage after a back and forth fight with welterweight champion Usman at UFC 245 this past weekend. Suffering a broken jaw in the fight, the loss was Covington’s first in seven fights.

Talking recently to FanSided, Gamebred said he “doesn’t think Covington will come back” after his recent loss. Masvidal also vowed to put a beating on Covington if they ever did meet in the Octagon.

“Twenty-four minutes of beating his ass, and then put him out,” Masvidal said about a potential fight with Covington. “And that’s that.”

Masvidal and Covington once trained together at American Top Team in Florida, however according to Masvidal issues started between the two when Covington “ripped off” one of Masvidal’s coaches.

Touching on a matchup with Usman, who defended his welterweight title for the first time against Covington at UFC 245, Masvidal feels the Nigerian is too “one-dimensional”, and that would be his downfall in a fight with him.

“When I fight Usman, I’m going to break his face,” Masvidal said. “He can’t hang with me, he’s too one-dimensional, he’s not skilled and he sure as hell ain’t tough.”
