I thought there was an outside chance that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal might upset American Cornhole League (ACL) pro Cody Henderson during their five-round grudge match last night on ESPN but alas, it was not meant to be.
Not that I expected “Gamebred” to handle his bag any better than Henderson, even with a 15-point head start, but the veteran cornholer was softened up by Masvidal’s son when they came face-to-face earlier this week at the official staredowns (watch that video here).
“I’m going to keep practicing,” Masvidal said post-match. “I started playing maybe like three years ago at a barbecue and I loved it. It’s not something I get to do often but whenever it’s around, I play it. You couldn’t tell it by tonight.”
Masvidal also learned how to fight at a barbecue alongside the likes of the late Kimbo Slice and if “Gamebred” can come all the way from the backyards of Miami to the world-famous Octagon, just imagine how many holes he can corn with another few years of practice.
