The tour will take place in Florida over the course of three separate rallies.
Jorge Masvidal is taking his disdain for socialism on tour.
The UFC welterweight fighter will join Donald Trump Jr. — son of the incumbent U.S. President — on a “Fighters Against Socialism” bus tour across Florida.
The news was announced by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, who revealed that the day-long tour will be comprised of three rallies in Tampa, Orlando, and Miami, the final of which will take place at the American Top Team gym where they expect “numerous fighters to join.”
The tour is the latest example of Masvidal rubbing shoulders with the Trump administration. He recently attended a Trump rally, where he was praised by the president for his record-breaking win against Ben Askren in 2019.
“That’s the fastest knockout,” Trump said during the rally. “I watched his (fight when) he was fighting this young superstar who was going to great, right? They were telling me how great he is. I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings but he was supposed to be the future of the UFC but he had to go through this guy right here but it didn’t go well (for him). Did it, Jorge? What a champion you are. That was the fastest (knockout). What was it? About a second? Two seconds? You ran across the ring and the guy was gone and that was the end of it. Did they have to pay you for that evening or not? Because one second… that’s a good return. Great to have you, man. I’m a big fan. Thanks.”
Trump was also present during Masvidal’s victory against Nate Diaz in New York City back in November 2019. It was the first time that a sitting U.S. president attended a live MMA event.
The UFC welterweight has long been vocal about his disdain for socialism. During a recent interview, Masvidal — who is of Cuban-American heritage — explained that he “stands against communism, socialism, even democratic socialism — anything that’s flying under that flag that’s saying, ‘We’re going to do all these great things for you, we’re going to give you all these free benefits here and free benefits there, but we’re going to take your freedom away.’ I’m against that.”
Despite his well-publicized dislike for socialism, Masvidal appears not to understand the political ideology he is actively campaigning against.
