Jorge Masvidal has again expressed his hatred towards his UFC 239 opponent Ben Askren.

Jorge Masvidal has made it clear in the past he isn’t exactly fond of Ben Askren, but has expressed his distaste for his UFC 239 opponent by saying he wants to “torture” him in their fight.

Masvidal (33-13) snapped a two-fight losing streak last month when he knocked out Darren Till in the main event of UFC London. That fight meant “Gamebred” jumped up to number four in the welterweight rankings, earning a fight with Askren who is at the number five slot.

Masvidal spoke about why he dislikes Askren so much on the most recent edition of The JRE MMA Show.

“He’s like a f—king 40 year old science teacher,” Masvidal said. “I don’t know why he acts like he’s new age. But he’s like these new age dudes that just f—king talk. Just talk and talk, and talk about everybody. Shut the f—k up. Because when somebody sees you in person, you’re not that guy. I don’t come from this technology world. If you say, ‘you’re a f—king idiot’ or ‘you’re gonna punch me in the face,’ I better be ready for it. (transcription via MMA Fighting)

Askren made his UFC debut last month at UFC 235, finishing Robbie Lawler in controversial fashion after overcoming an onslaught early on from “Ruthless”. Masvidal continued his tirade towards Askren, stating he wants the fight to last so he can “torture” him for as long as possible.

“I want to break his f—king face, I want to break his f—king rib cage, and I don’t want to knock him out early on.” Masivdal said. “I just want to torture that guy, man. If I get the chance to torture that guy for 14 minutes and 50 seconds before I stop him, that’s what I’m gonna do, man.

“I just don’t like this dude. I met him a long time ago, he’s a f—kin’ prick, man. There’s not too many people that I genuinely dislike – he’s one of them. If I was to see him right now, probably wouldn’t be too friendly of a greeting, you know?”

UFC 239 takes place on July 6th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. A light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Thiago Santos will headline the card.
