Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) staged UFC Macau yesterday (Sat., Nov. 23, 2024) inside Galaxy Arena in Macau, SRA, China, featuring a Bantamweight bout that saw former division champion, Petr Yan, defeat Deiveson Figueiredo via unanimous decision (see it again here). In the co-main event, Yan Xiaonan defeated Tabatha Ricci via unanimous decision, while Muslim Salikhov secured a spinning wheel kick knockout of Song Kenan (see it again here).

Winner: Petr Yan

Who He Should Face Next: Sean O’ Malley rematch

As impressive as his Yan’s win over Figueiredo was, Umar Nurmagomedov is the rightful owner of the next title fight against Merab Dvalishvili. That said, why not book a rematch between Yan and O’Malley? “Suga” coughed up his title to Dvalishvili earlier this year, and many cried foul when he defeated Yan via razor-thin split-decision at UFC 280. This is his chance to make things right for himself, and the winner of this fight gets the next shot at the strap.

Winner: Yan Xiaonan

Who He Should Face Next: Virna Jandiroba

Xiaonan earned a much-needed win over Ricci to get her back into the win column. Now, the former title contender will look to build on that momentum to get back into the mix. Since Tatiana Suarez was forced out of her fight against Jandiroba for UFC 310, why not book Xianonan vs. Jandiroba — who are ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively — for early 2025?

UFC Fight Night: Song v Salikhov

Winner: Muslim Salikhov

Who He Should Face Next: Stephen Thompson

Salikhov secured his second win by spinning wheel kick, so why not put him up against another fighter who is known for his devastating kicking game? Sure, “Wonderboy” isn’t the same fighter he used to be, but as Salikhov showed, age is nothing but a number. Thompson may be ranked No. 10 while Salikhov isn’t in the Top 15, but “Wonderboy” is in no position to be turning down fights since he is just 1-4 in his last five fights.

UFC Fight Night: Cong v Fernandes

Winner: Gabriella Fernandes

Who She Should Face Next: Luana Santos

After scoring an upset win over Wang Cong via rear-naked choke (see it here), Fernandes upped her win streak to two in a row. A like a fight against Santos next for “Gabi,” Santos is coming off a tough decision defeat at the hands of Casey O’Neill, but prior to that she was on an impressive five-fight win streak, including going 3-0 inside the Octagon.

UFC Fight Night: Oezdemir v Ulberg

Winner: Carlos Ulberg

Who He Should Face Next: Khalil Rountree

Ulberg continued his march up the Light Heavyweight ladder by securing his seventh straight win. He is hoping to earn a title fight much like Khalil Rountree did against Alex Pereira, but I feel Ulberg will have to keep on winning and climbing the rankings before that happens. That said, why not book him against “War Horse” to see whats what? Rountree is tied with Nikita Krylov at No. 6 at the moment. If Ulberg can get that win, a spot in the Top 5 seems realistic.

UFC Fight Night: Mingyang v Diaz

Winner: Zhang Mingyang

Who He Should Face Next: Ion Cutelaba

Mingyang secured his thirteenth straight first round stoppage win after obliterating Ozzy Diaz in the first frame with a vicious elbow (see it again here). I wouldn’t mind seeing him face off against a longtime veteran like Cutelaba next. We all know Cutelaba will bring the fight to the young buck, and he will truly test his skills. Cutelaba is coming off a win over Ivan Erslan a few months ago,
