Matt Brown wants to fight Carlos Condit when he recovers from injury.
Matt Brown might have a torn ACL, but the UFC veteran still has Carlos Condit in his crosshairs and hopes to fight ‘The Natural Born Killer’ when he’s fully recovered from injury.
Brown, a former competitor on The Ultimate Fighter 7, was expected to lock horns with Condit at the upcoming UFC on FOX 29 card on April 14 but was forced to withdraw just a couple of weeks out from the event, as reported by MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani on Monday.
Brown, who had teased at retirement after his brutal first-round KO of Diego Sanchez at UFC Fight Night 120, sent out a tweet confirming Helwani’s report and expects to meet Condit in the Octagon later in the year.
Wish it was all April Fools but I did tear my acl over the weekend. I hope @CarlosCondit gets an opponent and doesn’t have to lose out on the opportunity. We’ll do it for sure when I’m back. #thirdtimeisacharm

No need to send me a message with “I’m sorry”. This is hardly something to be sorry about I still live a great life and am blessed to be doing what I do daily. These kinds of obstacles are to be expected along this road. I will get past it and ultimately benefit from it somehow.

Condit, 33, is still expected to fight at UFC on FOX 29 although no replacement opponent has been announced. The former interim welterweight champion is looking to snap his three-fight losing skid and spring back into the winner’s column as soon as possible.
Brown, 37, dropped three back to back fights in 2016 but recovered with a spectacular knockout of Sanchez last year, finishing The Ultimate Fighter 1 winner with a crushing elbow in the first round.
UFC on FOX: Poirier vs. Gaethje is set to take place on April 14 at the Gila River Arena in Glendale Arizona.
