Matt Brown is the latest UFC fighter that thinks he had a brush with coronavirus.
While Lyman Good came forward today as the first active UFC fighter to actually test positive for COVID-19, others have stated that they think they’ve gone through it as well. Names like Alistair Overeem and Chael Sonnen believe they have come out the other side of coronavirus, and now you can add welterweight Matt Brown to the list.
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Brown revealed how he was sick for a a long time, in a way that he had never experienced before:
“Yeah it was crazy, because I think I might have had coronavirus. I was definitely ultra sick, like the sickest I’d ever been in my life. I was a different sick than I had ever been. I was sick for a whole month and then I was just starting to get good, and you start hearing about the coronavirus (and) start hearing about the card potentially getting canceled, so I was just starting to get into my groove of training again.
“I had a whole month where it was just a complete mess, trying to get to the gym. Just kind of everyday thinking to myself, do I go train through the sickness or do I keep resting and try to recover from it? Then, finally, I said I was feeling good.”
Brown had been scheduled to fight on March 28th, but obviously that card was scrapped. It remains to be seen when the 39-year-old will be able to get back into the Octagon.
