PHOENIX — Matt Hamill’s rematch with Thiago Silva and WSOF debut will have to wait. Hamill was forced to withdraw from WSOF 19’s co-main event at the eleventh hour after falling ill on Saturday morning, WSOF executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz confirmed with MMAFighting.com.
In Hamill’s stead, light heavyweight prospect Teddy Holder (8-1) agreed to face Silva on just a few hours notice. Holder rides a seven-fight win streak into his WSOF debut.
As a result of the late switch, Holder’s initial opponent Jake Heun will instead meet Clifford Starks in a main card bout.
The odd man out, Eddie Arizmendi, was paid both his show and win money, according to Abdel-Aziz.
WSOF 19 takes place March 28 at the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz. The main card will air live on NBC Sports Network.
