Wait a second, whose money is he stealing in this comparison?
Floyd Mayweather returns to action again this Saturday June 5th, but it’s not to test his GOAT level defensive boxing skills against the best the sport has to offer. No no, he’s fighting one of the Paul brothers, and not even the more famous scumbag one. Mayweather is set to fight the elder Logan Paul, who is a whopping 0-1 in boxing and a bigger sacrificial lamb than Mayweather’s last few novelty opponents.
Casual followers of combat sports may remember Mayweather toying with Conor McGregor back in 2017. More learned individuals will recall Floyd nuking Japanese kickboxing star Tenshin in 2018. And now he’s looking to mollywhop the next hot property: some YouTube chucklehead.
Floyd makes no apologies for refusing to face stiffer competition.
“My nickname is ‘Money’ for a reason,” he said during the ‘Inside Mayweather vs. Paul’ hype show. “I worked extremely hard for years and years to get to a certain level. A level where we can start calling everything an event. I believe in working smarter, not harder. So if it’s something easy like [the Paul fight], a legalized bank robbery, I gotta do it. I have to do it.”
Meanwhile, Logan Paul swears he’s going to shock the world.
“I’m going to knock him out and become the greatest boxer on the planet,” Paul said. “Then I’m going to retire and not give Floyd the rematch … He doesn’t know who he’s getting in the ring with. He really thinks I’m a YouTuber. He really thinks I’m a fake fighter. I get it. Everything that I’ve portrayed online says the same thing. But we’re really about this life now. Floyd underestimating me is going to hurt him, I think.”
Mayweather vs. McGregor went 10 rounds. Mayweather vs. Tenshin went a whole 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Any guesses as to how long Mayweather vs. Logan Paul goes?
