“Let’s be honest about your video, because your video is clickbait and it’s bullsh-t and it’s out of context.” McCarthy said.
Dana White released a video attacking media earlier this week that has been the talk of the town, and it’s got under the skin of veteran MMA referee “Big” John McCarthy.
The video trashed the MMA media and those who criticised White for holding events in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. A segment in the video used McCarthy indicating that White was lining his pockets with money in jeopardy of the safety of UFC fighters and production staff. McCarthy fired back at White appearing recently on “Weighing In” podcast.
“Here’s a guy that says ‘I don’t give a f—k about the media,” McCarthy said (Transcription via BJPenn.com). “First off, I don’t even look at us as media, but that’s okay, but then he always complains about clickbait. ‘These media guys and that clickbait bulls—t that they do…’ What the f-ck did you and your little team do, man? You little clickbait b-tch. You are so pathetic.”
White has had his fair share of run-ins with referees in the past such as Mario Yamasaki and Steve Mazzagatti, but never with McCarthy. Continuing his anger at the video, McCarthy took aim at White for being hypocritical and using quotes in the video out of context.
“You need to have your own little pat on the back—okay let me pat you on the back—because you took everything [the media said] out of context,” McCarthy continued. “You made it to where you were the hero. Congratulations hero Dana. Oh, let me bow down to you. Unbelievable. My God. When are you going to figure out—you know what—don’t worry about it. Do your thing, you did great.
“The UFC had a fantastic year, but let’s be honest about everything that occurred, and let’s be honest about your video, because your video is clickbait and it’s bullsh-t and it’s out of context.”
