Conor McGregor and Marc Goddard appear to have some history dating back to 2012.
Back in 2017, UFC star Conor McGregor found himself in some controversy after getting into a physical altercation with referee Marc Goddard at Bellator 187 in Dublin, Ireland.
McGregor stormed the cage to celebrate teammate Charlie Ward’s knockout victory over John Redmond, and the Irishman ended up shoving Goddard during the frenzy.
According to a recent tweet by ‘The Notorious, however, McGregor and Goddard have a history dating back to 2012 when McGregor submitted Dave Hill to win the Cage Warriors featherweight title at Cage Warriors 47.
McGregor posted the following tweet on Sunday afternoon, blasting Goddard for his ‘horrendous’ and ‘crazy’ behavior in the cage.
What a great milestone in Irish MMA’s history!
The behavior of Britain’s Marc Goddard in the corner that night was horrendous. Burst into the cage and attacked referee Neil Hall in between rounds.
The fight was still in play!
Crazy behavior for an up and coming referee!

Goddard, who is widely considered one of the best referees in the business, responded to McGregor that same day, just a few hours later.

McGregor, the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champ, is teased to return to the Octagon later this year, although the 30-year-old is currently nursing a hand injury after going a little too hard at a recent sparring session at SBG Ireland.
