Make light work of Donald Cerrone, and Justin Gaethje could be next. At least that’s what Conor McGregor says.
Amused by the way he has been ‘behaving’ of late, Conor McGregor says Justin Gaethje will eventually get what is coming to him.
McGregor (21-4) will fight Donald Cerrone in the main event of UFC 246 on January 18th. It is the Irishman’s first return to the octagon since October 2018, when he was defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov by submission at UFC 229.
Taking recently to The Mac Life, McGregor made clear that a fight with Gaethje is one is very open to after his upcoming bout with Cerrone later this month.
“He’s on the list. He is on the list. Maybe I will face him next. Maybe I’ll face him next, you know? He has it coming to him,” McGregor said (Transcription via BJ Penn.com). “I mean laugh at how Justin is behaving. He’s a funny guy. He’s been taking it very to heart, you know? And I know the feeling when you do that.”
Gaethje has recently fired back at UFC president Dana White for claiming he has been turning down fights. Winning his last three fights all by knockout at 155-pounds, Gaethje understandably thinks he should be next for the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson in April.
“Maybe I’ll get through Donald and I’ll have a quick turnaround against Justin. So maybe that’s what will happen. But Justin is on the list, no doubt.” McGregor said.
