Less than two months after losing a sexual assault civil suit in Dublin, former UFC two-division champion, Conor McGregor, is facing a new round of allegations stemming from a 2023 post-game incident that allegedly took place after Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
The case was filed on Tuesday in Southern District of Florida and also names Miami Heat and Basketball Properties LLC, which operates the Kaseya Center, as defendants, according to Front Office Sports. The alleged victim is seeking past and future medical treatment, compensatory damages that exceed $75,000, litigation costs, and other relief.
The venue is accused of serving alcohol to a visibly-intoxicated McGregor, who is also accused of injuring the Heat mascot.
“My client has thought long and hard about the decision to pursue this civil case, and is fearful of the effect it may have on her job on Wall Street,” attorney Jim Dunn wrote in an Email to ESPN. “Nonetheless, her main goal in filing this suit is to raise awareness and encourage others to report sexual assault.”
MMA Fighting published a detailed summary of the allegations:
The lawsuit alleges that a friend of the victim told her “we are leaving” but a member of McGregor’s security team or one of his friends approached them and said “Conor told me to come get you” before allegedly grabbing her by the wrist and led her to a bathroom.
The alleged victim claims she asked for McGregor’s friend or security guard to release her, but the person told her “No, Conor will kill me if I lose you.” McGregor then allegedly exited the bathroom, grabbed the victim’s hand and led her into the men’s bathroom.
McGregor then allegedly led her into a stall but security would not allow her friend to follow.
The lawsuit alleges that the victim used the bathroom, and while she was sitting on the toilet, McGregor allegedly “attempted to forcefully place his unprotected penis into [her] mouth without her consent.”
The victim states that she resisted before standing up and then attempted to leave the stall but McGregor allegedly “slammed” her against a wall face first, put her in an arm lock and “attempted to forcefully place his unprotected penis into [the victim’s] anus without her consent.”
As a result of the alleged assault, the victim claims she suffered “physical, psychological and emotional damages.”
An incident report was filed with law enforcement following the alleged assault, which includes this video of the night in question; however, Florida State Attorney’s Office declined to press charges.
“After a thorough investigation at the time, the State’s Attorney concluded that there was no case to pursue,” McGregor’s attorney, Barbara Llanes, said in a subsequent statement. “Almost two years and at least three lawyers later the plaintiff has a new false story. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed.”
McGregor has not competed for UFC since breaking his leg back in 2021.
