“I came back for the love of this, to come and shut this man up…a little rat…a little weasel.”
Many fans predicted that Conor McGregor was going to sail off into the sunset a retired and rich man after his mega-money fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. last year.
According to Forbes, McGregor is one of the highest paid athletes in the world, but the Irishman is not motivated to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov for the money – he’s in this for the ‘love’ of fighting.
That’s what ‘The Notorious’ told reporters, and Khabib, at the explosive UFC 229 pre-fight press conference on Thursday.
“I came back for the love of this, to come and shut this man up…a little rat…a little weasel…a little hard man in groups,” McGregor said at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
After repeatedly calling Nurmagomedov a coward for refusing to step off the bus during McGregor’s wild frenzy in Brooklyn, the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion promised to put a ‘bad beating’ on Khabib at UFC 229, calling his rival a ‘little glass-jaw rat.’
“He shit his jocks after doing something to his countryman that had got nothing to do with anything — that’s it. I came back for the love of fighting and the love of war. And this: I’m going to truly, truly love putting a bad beating on this little glass-jaw rat.”
After the wild press conference in New York, fans are counting down the days until both men are locked inside the cage at UFC 229 – and the good news is, they don’t have too long to wait.
The highly anticipated pay-per-view will take place in just two weeks, on October 6, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
