As Conor McGregor praised Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder for their Saturday night fight, he also threw jabs at Dustin Poirier.
The combat sports world was all eyes on Saturday’s heavyweight boxing headliner between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. The two men put on a show in their trilogy fight, which ultimately caught the attention of prizefighting’s most notable figures.
Among them was UFC superstar Conor McGregor, who gave his props to both Wilder and Fury on Twitter.
Great fight that. Both warriors, both winners. Hard to not be impressed with Deontay there. Against the much larger man and almost got it done. Great fight. 40lb’s in weight difference is A LOT. Fair play both men there, very enjoyable fights they have had together. Respect.
But as he gave his praises, he also took an indirect swipe at rival Dustin Poirier and the “fake” celebration after their third fight at UFC 257.
Their skill levels are unique but very close. A great heavyweight trilogy that was. I love when it gets set for certain and both have an honorable showing. Not the fam in the ring fake celebrating after a freak injury etc etc you know the gig, God bless the real in this world.
“The Notorious” seemed to have forgotten his death threats towards Poirier as he sat on the Octagon with a broken leg. Unfortunately for him, it was all caught on video.
