‘Retired’ UFC star Conor McGregor apparently called for a fight with Diego Sanchez in February.

Hours after he announced his third retirement in June, Conor McGregor bared a little more details behind his reason. Without giving any specific details at the time, “The Notorious” claimed that the UFC wanted to “show some kind of power” over him by offering “stupid” fights.

I had my goals, my plans, the season. I had everything laid out. Obviously the world has gone bleeding bonkers at the minute. There’s f—k all happening at the minute. They want to throw me up and down weights and offer me stupid fights. I don’t really give a f—k. I’m over it.

McGregor finally shed some light on his claims in a recent tweet he posted, featuring a series of screenshots of his conversations with UFC president Dana White. It involved a supposed fight against Diego Sanchez, which the TUF 1 alum coincidentally asked for as his retirement fight.

White later went on record stating that McGregor turned down a short-notice fight against Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 when it was rescheduled for May. The Irish star also had an answer to that.

The UFC is said to be working on some “fun stuff” for McGregor for 2021. But as far as the Irish sports star is concerned, he’s jumping back to boxing and fighting Manny Pacquiao next.

What a time to be a fan of this sport.
