Conor McGregor is ready to make his return to the UFC and he wants to do it soon against a former opponent in Dustin Poirier.

Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier are gearing up for a rematch and it looks like it will be in the UFC after all.

In the last few weeks, both McGregor and Poirier have been communicating via social media about having their long-awaited rematch for charity outside of the UFC. McGregor even went as far as to create a fight poster, stating that the fight between him and Poirier would be in Dublin, Ireland sometime in December.

UFC President Dana White was made aware of the situation and began following it quite closely before announcing he has offered both men a fight. At the time, White said he was awaiting a response from McGregor and Poirier, with the latter posting a simple tweet of “I accept” in what was an apparent response to White. McGregor had not said anything publicly about the announcement from White, but he has finally responded.

In another brief exchange between him and Poirier, McGregor revealed he has indeed accepted the fight offer from White and the UFC brass and would like to compete by the end of this year.

“Hello Dustin! I accepted the [UFC] offer to fight you, but told them it must happen in 2020. I’m ready for Nov 21st, given that cards recent injury issues, as well as any of the December dates, the 12th and the 19th. I’ll also still donate the $500k to The Good Fight Foundation,” wrote McGregor on Twitter.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani confirmed the news and stated the initial offer from the UFC was a fight in January 2021, which McGregor countered with dates in either November or December 2020.

Poirier responded to McGregor and was delighted to see his acceptance of the fight as well as his kept promise of donating to the Good Fight Foundation, the non-profit ran by Poirier. He even gave an idea of how to use the donation from McGregor.

“We’ll get it worked out! Good man, We will use the donation to open a Boxing/MMA Academy on the side of town me and [Daniel Cormier] grew up were the tuition for the kids will be good grades.”

With McGregor and Poirier accepting the fight, it is now up to the UFC to come to an agreement on the date.
