A proposed McGregor vs. Paul boxing match in India is coming together fast, and could happen sooner than you might expect.
Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and there’s a whole lot of smoke surrounding a potential Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul fight in 2025.
It was McGregor himself who blew the lid off the story back in mid-December, saying he’d accepted an offer from the billionaire Ambani family to box the elder Paul brother in India. UFC CEO Dana White had teased a fight we’d ‘never f—ing see coming’ just two days earlier, and sources confirmed with MMAMania.com that Conor vs. Logan was indeed what he was referring to.
Now we’re getting a new report from the official YouTube account of Misfits Boxing that line up with what we’re hearing.
“There are deep negotiations for the fight,” Misfits presenter Biel said. “Conor is interested, so is Logan. They are targeting April of next year. The UFC are involved and in talks. It is all moving in the right direction, claiming it is 80% likely to happen.”
Here’s what we can confirm: This is no longer a vaporous fight proclamation like past McGregor announcements. There are talks underway with UFC involved, the fight is expected to happen sooner rather than later, and the Ambanis are the ones pushing to make things happen as part of a push to raise the international profile of their family.
There are currently no obvious roadblocks to clear, making McGregor vs. Paul more likely to happen than not.
The specifics that are still up in the air? April as a date, and rumored $250 million purses. Payouts are definitely in the nine figure range and McGregor will make over $100 million guaranteed if everything comes together. Everything else depends on details that haven’t been ironed out yet.
This is undoubtedly a disappointment for serious fight fans hoping to see Conor McGregor’s return in a legitimate MMA bout. But based on recent comments from UFC CEO Dana White, the promotion wasn’t even looking to fight McGregor until the end of 2025 for whatever reason. If it’s a choice between nothing and this latest attention-grabbing mainstream crossover bout, I guess we’ll take it?
With early 2025 being the target timeline, at least Conor vs. Logan will come and go fast. And we can always dream this may finally be the time we get to watch a Paul brother get destroyed in the ring.
