Conor McGregor has told Dana White to make the fight against Frankie Edgar for this December.

Both Conor McGregor and Frankie Edgar have agreed to fight each other in December after the two engaged on social media.

McGregor replied to a tweet from the UFC wishing Frankie Edgar a happy 38th birthday, telling Edgar he would “see him in December.” “The Answer” said “yes,” adding that it’s on the former two-division champ and UFC president Dana White to make the fight. McGregor said he would gladly accept and donate his whole fight purse to charity.

The UFC president White has not yet commented on the fight, however he did recently say if Tony Ferguson refuses to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov next for the UFC lightweight title, a rematch between Khabib and McGregor would take place.

This comes not long after Edgar announced a move down to bantamweight, with his coach Mark Henry saying it would be “safer” for Edgar to fight at 135-pounds. If a fight between Edgar and McGregor does take place, it would likely be at 145-pounds, a weight Conor hasn’t fought at for almost four years.

Edgar (23-7-1) has only fought once this year, falling short at his shot at becoming the UFC featherweight champion when he lost a unanimous decision to Max Holloway in July.

Meanwhile, McGregor (21-4) has not fought since losing to Khabib last October. During that span, he’s been dealing with legal troubles that range from an alleged sexual assault investigation to a charge for assaulting an older man in a Irish pub.

The UFC’s December schedule is almost completely filled out, so the odds of McGregor returning to the Octagon this year are slim and none.
