Sara McMann is ready to get back to action. And she wants a piece of Sarah Kaufman.
But does Kaufman feel the same about McMann?
According to McMann’s manager, Monte Cox, McMann has requested the former Strikeforce bantamweight champ in her next fight. MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani reported the news on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight.
The potential holdup? Kaufman, for her part, wants to tangle with either Cat Zingano or Miesha Tate next. With her win over Leslie Smith last month, Kaufman is 5-1 in her last six fights (minus a no-contest), with the only loss coming to UFC banatmweight champ Ronda Rousey.
Kaufman indicated to Helwani that she prefers Zingano or Tate because she feels they are bigger names in the division and because both are coming off wins.
McMann (7-1) suffered her first career defeat against current women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey in the main event of UFC 170, losing via first-round TKO.
The duo were slated to fight last August, but McMann withdrew from the bout for personal reasons and Kaufman was subsequently pulled from the card.
