Tim Means says the UFC has paid him his win bonus after losing a split decision to Sergio Moraes at UFC Belem.

Last month at UFC Belem, Tim Means suffered a split decision loss to Sergio Moraes in a fight that many scored in his favor. Dana White is clearly someone who falls into that category, as the UFC president has sent Means his win bonus for that fight.

On Tuesday, Means thanked the UFC and Dana White on Twitter for sending him his win bonus.

The consensus was that Moraes won the first round, but Means found his groove and came back to win the second and third. 13 of 14 media outlets agreed with that decision and scored the fight 29-28 in favor of Means. However, judges’ Tony Weeks and Phillipe Iorio had Moraes winning the second round, which gave the Brazilian the victory on the night.

A similar scenario happened back in 2014 at UFC Fight Night 42 when Diego Sanchez defeated Ross Pearson. Even though he out-struck Sanchez and knocked him down in the second round, one judge gave scored every round in Sanchez’s favor. White awarded Pearson his $30,000 win bonus despite the original result.

Means signed a new five-fight deal with the UFC in December 2017. He is riding consecutive split decision losses and is without a win since defeating Alex Garcia by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 112.
