McCann’s orbital bone was broken during her hard fought win over Priscila Cachoeira, but that hasn’t stopped her from celebrating.
A tough and determined “Meatball” Molly McCann made history on Saturday night (March 16, 2019) at UFC Fight Night 147: “Till vs. Masvidal,” becoming the first English woman to win a fight in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). If you thought that was Joanne Calderwood, she’s Scottish and that matters to folks actually living in the United Kingdom.
The victory was all the sweeter given how close it was from being snatched away. A broken orbital bone suffered in the third caused her eye to swell shut and turn into a full-on egg. Somehow the ringside physician let things continue for the final two minutes, and judges delivered a 29-28 decision win for McCann over her opponent, Priscila Cachoeira.
Here’s some pictures of the eye injury from fight night:

As for the reason she has been an absolute beam of sunshine since the win despite the gruesome injury, this post from her Instagram should explain.
”Paddy’s day 2012 vs Paddy’s day 2019,” she wrote. “Don’t give up on your dreams kids!”
