The Canadian Medical Association recently voted to solicit a ban of mixed martial arts in Canada.
In his latest installment of “Medical Beat,” MMAjunkie.com medical columnist and combat-sports specialist Dr. Johnny Benjamin disagrees with the course that his esteemed Canadian colleagues have chosen.
His opposition is based upon a lack of corroborating
medical evidence, inconsistency in assessment and appreciation of
sports-related risks, and the inclusion personal preferences and
sensibilities in the regulation of sports.
