The Irish sports star will be anything but a silent partner in his new role as minority owner of Bare Knuckle FC.

This past weekend (Sat., April 27, 2024) at “KnuckleMania 4” in Los Angeles, Calif., BKFC announced that Conor McGregor had become a part-owner of the promotion. Now, BKFC President, David Feldman, is sharing more details on the deal.

“He’s a minority owner, but he has a lot of say in this company,” Feldman said on Sirius XM’s MMA Today. “He’s going to be part of the board. So, we’re going to get a lot of usage out of Conor McGregor. And so far, so good. You know, very, very enthusiastic. I just hope things keep moving that way.

“We wouldn’t have gotten Conor McGregor involved to be a silent owner,” Feldman added. “Like, we don’t just want him to be a partner and not say anything, and not do anything, and not help move the needle. We got him involved to really help move the needle for us, to do different introductions, come up with some good ideas.”

Needle-mover, indeed.

“He built himself into superstardom, so hopefully he can help some other fighters do that as well.”

Bring on the Conor McGregor Bare Knuckle Invitational! That one is free, guys. I will not take a cent off that idea … promise.

Nevertheless, it may be a balancing act for McGregor to use his name to promote Bare Knuckle FC, while not drawing the ire of Dana White and Co., which has a clause in its standard contract barring its fighters from working “in any other capacity” for another combat sports promotion.

But, this is Conor McGregor we’re talking about.

Accordingly, he may have carved out an exemption, especially with his McGregor Sports & Entertainment brand. UFC may also want to avoid more enmity with its biggest star, who is two fights away from money-printing free agency.

It’s a different dynamic.

Feldman is convinced there won’t be a problem so long as he doesn’t try to poach “The Notorious” to fight for BKFC. He made it clear that’s not what any of this is about (yet).

“No, [fighting for BKFC] hasn’t been talked about at all,” he said. “It’s not part of this deal. Him and UFC go together very well, and he’s he’s going ride that out. I guess we’ll see what happens after that. But, right now, he wants to obviously get these two fights over with, create a lot of viewership, and make a lot of money.”

The possibilities are endless.
