Jordan Mein | Esther Lin for MMA Fighting
UFC and Strikeforce veteran Jordan Mein (31-12) is the newest fighter to swell the ranks of the Welterweight division in Bellator MMA. MMA Fighting was able to confirm the signing with Bellator officials, though a date for Mein’s promotional debut and potential opponent have not been announced.
Mein leaves UFC on a two-fight winning streak, having defeated both Alex Morono and fellow Bellator fighter Erick Silva by unanimous decision. Of his 31 wins, just over 50% (16) come by form of knockout, including his wins over Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, Dan Miller, and Mike “Quicksand” Pyle, the latter earning a Performance of the Night bonus in 2014.
In a division that needs new opponents for Douglas Lima (32-7) after “The Phenom” successfully ran through the Welterweight Grand Prix, Mein’s signing bolsters the roster and may just bring a few Canadian fans of the man from Lethbridge along with him.
