News broke on Friday that UFC President Dana White had made his selections for the upcoming fourteenth season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, naming two middleweights to the coaching positions on the Spike television reality series.
Former “TUF 9″ coach, Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping (21-3), and “Bully Beatdown” host, Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller (24-7) who recently resigned with the UFC, will act as coaches for the next season. “TUF 14″ is expected to feature bantamweight and featherweight fighters, the first time the series has featured fighters from those weight classes.
White broke the news exclusively to MixedMartialArts.com today, and has since been confirmed by several other web media outlets.
Former No. 1 middleweight contender Chael Sonnen was thought to take the other coaching role opposite Bisping, but after the California State Athletic Commission voted to uphold his licensing suspension, Sonnen was unable to participate on the Spike series.
Miller is currently scheduled to meet Aaron Simpson in July at UFC 132 as part of his return to the promotion, but that bout is expected to be cancelled with today’s news.
