A passing comment on the Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren fight turned into a flame war that saw Dillon Danis get wrecked by the former UFC champ.

With Logan Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather ‘postponed’ due to lack of interest, Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren is shaping up to be the freakshow fight of the year.

And we have to admit, Paul does currently exist in a profitable space: both beloved and hated by legions of teenagers and young adults due to his YouTube fame, and now legitimized to a degree in the combat sports world due to his co-main event fight on Mike Tyson’s last pay-per-view.

That doesn’t make his fight with Ben Askren any less ridiculous. Paul has carefully selected the highest profile MMA fighter with the worst stand-up possible, and now the two will duel it out in a boxing ring. If not for a knee injury, it might have been Conor McGregor’s jiu jitsu coach Dillon Danis in there. Which all seemed pretty ridiculous to former UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping.

That comment didn’t sit well with Danis, who seems salty about losing his big money paycheck to Askren.

Unfortunately for Danis, no one told him he shouldn’t engage in a battle of words with Bisping on the best of days, let alone when the ill-tempered Brit is recovering from neck surgery. “The Count’s” response was just brutal.

Oof. 10-7. We’d call it a pure finish but Bisping doesn’t seem done with Danis.

So while the Paul vs. Askren fight is ridiculous and Danis is coming off like a pretty lame orbiter, at least we’re getting to watch Paul and Danis getting every bit of disrespect they’re throwing out towards the MMA community revisited upon them tenfold.
