Michael Chiesa’s return to the Octagon has been slightly delayed.
Chiesa informed MMAFighting.com that he recently suffered a grade 2 AC joint shoulder separation while training, which will sideline him for approximately six more weeks. The injury is similar to the one NBA star Chris Paul recently sustained.
“Such a bummer,” he said. “I really wanted to make a four-fight run this year.”
Chiesa (10-1), who did not have a fight lined up when he suffered the injury, recently got back on the winning track by defeating Colton Smith via second-round rear-naked choke in November. “The Ultimate Fighter” season 15 winner suffered the first loss of his career in July when he was submitted via D’Arce choke in the second round by Jorge Masvidal.
Chiesa said he is considering using this downtime to link up once again with Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, Calif. and The MMA LAB in Glendale, AZ.
