An American Top Team Fighter has been pulled from a UFC Fight Night 100 bout after being arrested for suspected domestic violence.
A UFC welterweight’s issues with the law have forced the promotion to remove him from a scheduled bout in Brazil. Michael Graves, an undefeated American Top Team fighter and TUF 21 alum, was arrested for misdemeanor battery (family violence) on Saturday. Fulton County jail records confirm (via MMA Fighting) that Graves had his bail set at $5000, but is still in custody.
Today, the UFC issued a statement on the issue, saying he was out of his fight:
“The UFC organization is aware that Michael Graves was arrested over the weekend on a misdemeanor battery charge. The organization takes this situation seriously and is in the process of gathering more information.
Graves has been removed from his scheduled bout on Nov. 19 as a result of the pending legal matter.”
Graves (6-0-1, 2-0-1 UFC) was scheduled to fight Sergio Moraes at UFC Fight Night 100. There’s no word of a replacement fighter to face Moraes as of yet. After two straight wins to open his UFC career, Graves went to a draw with Bojan Velickovic in his last bout at UFC 201 in July.
