Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Prior to being put in charge of Midnight Mania and having it become my job to constantly scan Instagram and Twitter for fight-related news and nonsense, Luke Rockhold was one of the few fighters (aside from team mates) that I followed on my personal account. Outside of being an incredible talent inside the cage, Rockhold was always doing cool stuff in his free time, like hanging out with tigers in Thailand, partying with Will Ferrell at the world cup, or surfing on beautiful beaches around the globe.

Back in the fight world, Rockhold is in the midst of a move to 205 lbs. following a knockout loss to Yoel Romero in February of 2018. He’s just a week and a half away from his debut showdown with Jan Blachowicz, which will serve as a great introduction to the division. With a win, Rockhold is right in the mix, and he’s already being spoken of as a potential contender to Jon Jones.

There’s a lot on the line for the Ralph Lauren model. Ahead of his bout with Blachowicz, Rockhold has released a mini-documentary on his training, past injuries, and mentality ahead of the fight. It’s an insightful look into Rockhold’s mentality and definitely worth-watching. Check it out below:

Insomnia

A hot pot in China is absolutely one for the bucket list. Look at those chilies in the second image!

Junior dos Santos ranks highly among the most likable folks in the sport.

If you were put in charge of USADA, what fighter(s) would be your top testing priority?

Jones seems to have beef with a lot of Middleweights. Let’s see if he has anything to say about Francis Ngannou’s call out.

Just two jacked Canadian dudes referencing ‘80s movies.

Garbrandt looking quick (as usual) on mitts with his uncle.

The romance no one expected:

Slips, Rips, and KO clips

It’s unfortunate that Vinc Pichel has only managed six fights in seven years on the roster, because he’s a sneaky talent. “From Hell” returns Saturday night opposite Roosevelt Roberts.

Anthony Pettis has attempted this a half-dozen times with varying degrees of success.

This elbow knockout is a great example of a high-level striker quickly finding the hole in a tight defensive guard and ruthlessly exploiting it.

Random Land

Extreme heat…

And extreme cold: don’t fall into either!

Midnight Music: Freddie Gibbs and Madlib’s second collaboration, Bandana, will release precisely as this article posts. To celebrate, I’ve been listening to their first album, Piñata aka Cocaine Piñata, which for my money is the best gangster rap of the decade.

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
