Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Chuck Liddell was skeptical of Jon Jones’ recent polygraph test results, to say the least. I spoke to him today about a new YouTube Red show he was a part of, Ultimate Expedition. Halfway through the interview, I asked him if he had seen the news about Jon Jones taking a polygraph test to prove he didn’t take steroids intentionally.

Liddell: I didn’t see it, but … is a polygraph really gonna prove anything? Is this the “someone slipped something into my drink” defense? And who paid for the polygraph?

The test was conducted by PGP Polygraph & Interviewing Service in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and was not requested by the UFC or USADA. Liddell further elaborated with a little speculation:

The “someone put it in my drink more than once”, defense? Like… first go round, its a little different.

What was the first one, tainted Cialis? Listen, how tainted was the Cialis, for that to register in a high enough amount that it would pop you on the test? I don’t know about tests. Maybe you just need a little bit to pop you, but to be at a level that would show up on the test, it seems like you would have to have taken a LOT of tainted Cialis. Or, just a little bit in the Cialis, if it wasn’t that, instead of Cialis, in whatever it was. I don’t know.

Jones has been very unapologetic about taking Cialis, which he described as “awesome”; however, his defense was that they were contaminated, resulting in his first drug test failure. Failing a second test, though, certainly has called his alibi into question. Some, including UFC executive Jeff Novitsky, seem to be convinced it was accidental; others, not so much.

Chuck also dished on seeing his friend Matt Hughes recover, the current state of the Light Heavyweight division, whether he still gets the urge to compete, advice to young fighters as a fan of the sport, and what it was like to come off the couch to climb a mountain for the first time where base camp was at 14,000 feet. He also explained why he shaved his face:

Insomnia

This is funny trolling, because the shoulder roll is Floyd’s move, but Mayweather-McGregor was so… 2017. Maybe if McGregor gets back into competition sooner than later, he will have something relevant to post about.

I call this move the shoulder roll.

I am as excited about Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson as anyone; more than likely it will happen, but it’s not a completely done deal just yet.

Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou is this weekend and yes, we are all stoked.

I’ve been missing out on this quality content by not following Phil Baroni, apparently.

This is the reverse of “don’t try this at home”, because someone already did, so Raymond Daniels, the professional, does it right.

Maryna Moroz is (justifiably) proud of her abs.

Obligatory reminder that UFC fighters are not paid as well as other athletes. Just work on becoming a star, Belal Muhammad.

Valentina Shevchenko has a hidden talent, and it’s not shooting or traditional dance. (She can do those too) It’s painting.

Don’t be the human who sends Jessica-Rose Clark nasty messages concerning her fight with Paige VanZant.

This weekend’s fighting schedule:

Slips, Rips, and KO Clips

A reminder that Rory Macdonald brings the violence (so does Douglas Lima) so this weekend has goodness on both Bellator and UFC cards.

This is the scariest choke/crank I’ve ever seen. It looks as though Saadulaez is about to snap his neck.

I’m not sure how this doesn’t get you signed to the UFC, but enjoy this guy while you can, LFA.

Always love a good submission

I love simple technical pointers like this:
