Midnight Mania! Cormier slams Gina Carano for advice to Ronda Rousey, Ric Flair is lit

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania! Tonight we’ve got Daniel Cormier with the hot takes- and also getting shaken down for $500 by Khabib Nurmagomedov- about Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey, Ric Flair finding out he is lit AF, Chael Sonnen talking about his recent loss to Ortiz, knockouts, breakdowns, Brock Lesnar playing with a puppy, and much more.

In a recent segment transcribed by Fox Sports 1, Daniel Cormier came out blazing with a hot take regarding Gina Carano’s recent advice to Rousey:

“Gina Carano — who are you to tell Ronda Rousey what to do?” Cormier said on “UFC Tonight.” “If I’ve got to look back on your career and you choosing to act over fighting and continuing to fight, I don’t feel as though, guys — and you can disagree if you want — that the career has not been what it would have been if she stayed fighting.”

That comment didn’t slide by fellow hosts Meisha Tate and Kenny Florian, who disagreed with Cormier vehemently. Tate, in particular, was adamant that Carano be given her dues as the first face of women’s mixed martial arts. Her acting career has been relatively successful, as well, with Carano having played a star in Haywire and a role in Marvel’s blockbuster hit Deadpool. Cormier, however, did not back down.

“Ronda, don’t listen to someone that I feel didn’t make the right choice,” Cormier said about Carano. “Do what I say and that means continuing to fight. It’s where you belong. It is where you belong Ronda Rousey.”

Strong words from the UFC light heavyweight champion, who defends his belt against Anthony Johnson at UFC 210 in Albany.

Khabib shaking Cormier down

So here is the story. We all agreed that professional fighter should pay 50$ for collective needs in the gym, so everyone had paid but Cormier. He promised to invest 500$ as a champion. Can’t wait to see if he keeps his promise, but anyway I’ll keep you guys posted. @dc_mma you need to stay HUMBLE.

Luke Thomas interviewed Chael Sonnen, and it was a great talk with the Bad Guy, brushing on many topics, including finding that motivation as an older fighter. Chael admitted that Tito’s choke surprised him, and said he finds it more difficult to fight through the pain than he did when he was younger.

“There were times that I would walk through fire, and I was very consistent at it, whether it went my way or not, but as far as an effort goes. It’s a little bit harder to find those. It’s a little bit harder to find those nights and get that motivation up, and that’s soul searching that, you know, for me as an individual that I’ve gotta do, and I know there are plenty of other people have been in my shoes and had to do it, but now I’m in that spot.”

“I can remember I fought a guy named Nate Marquardt, and the first sequence he threw a knee and broke my sternum, and I didn’t think twice about it. It hurt like hell, and it didn’t have one thing to do with the other. I was pushing through it, and those are the moments that you search for, and the moments that you are really proud of when you do overcome that, regardless of the outcome.”

Sonnen also maintains he did not cheat on the Celebrity Apprentice, from which he was fired, and called his move to cut the cord and stop the clock “brilliant”. In addition, he gives his predictions on the upcoming Flograppling SUG 3 tournament, and dismisses the claims of a fixed fight.
