MMA: UFC 240-Cyborg vs Spencer

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

UFC 240 proved, by and large, to be a successful night for Cris Cyborg. Felicia Spencer proved unexpectedly durable and tough, but she was unable to land many significant punches or a single takedown in their 15-minute contest. However, in the opening minutes of the bout, Spencer did connect with a giant step-in elbow that split Cyborg open.

Earlier today, Cyborg posted a photo of the battle wound, saying her skull was visible through the cut.

Nasty stuff!

In the past few days, Cyborg had made headlines for her feud with Dana White and UFC. The promotion and its president largely downplayed Cyborg’s win at UFC 240 and accused her of wanting easier fights rather than a rematch with Amanda Nunes. As a result, Cyborg has publicly accused White of lying and demanded an apology.

It remains to be seen if Cyborg will remain a member of the UFC roster or seek greener pastures.

Insomnia

Nate Diaz is working hard ahead of his return to the Octagon.

This is the case almost 100% of the time with angry online “fans.”

“The Black Beast” returns!

Let’s jump over to Derrick Lewis’ IG and see what he thinks about the match up:

Weili Zhang with the double jumps!

What is this nonsense?

A Tony Ferguson highlight to some weird techno beat — you know you want it!

Slips, rips, and KO clips

I’m obviously quite biased, but I think Team Alpha Male boxing coach Joey Rodriguez has done a great job of allowing Clay Guida to remain weird while having him better sit down on his punches.

More Petr Yan violence is always welcome:

This whole sequence was super slick.

Ya’ll ever seen an amphibian hit a rear naked choke?

Midnight Music: So, this is a weird situation. My girlfriend and I began watching the cult classic television show Twin Peaks a few nights ago. Despite never having seen the show previously, I had already heard both Angelo Badalamenti’s original soundtrack and experimental band Xiu Xiu’s wild version of those same songs. Both are extremely worth listening to whether you’re a fan of the show or not. but I’ve been revisiting the Xiu Xiu versions since I hear the originals in the show so frequently.

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
