Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz has been known to spin some tall tales. He once claimed that in deposition for the UFC that releasing fighter pay information would be dangerous for some of his fighters, as they might become kidnapping targets. That didn’t seem to be a concern more recently when he claimed Khabib is worth 50 million dollar per fight. Oh, and McGregor is now just a guy selling liquor at the corner store, which is an amazing way to downplay McGregor’s commercially successful new whiskey line.

Dana White, at the recent UFC 232 press conference, dismissed Abdelaziz’s demands as hot air. Transcript via MMAFighting.com:

“Sure. [Laughing] Come on! They know what’s realistic for them,” said White. “They know the answer to that question. It’s fun to say though, $50 million.”

It is fun to say. Dana also said that he has talked to McGregor, who sounds uncharacteristically reasonable about who his next opponent might be.

“Conor and I talked for an hour last week,” White said. “Typical Conor. ‘I would love an immediate rematch. I want to fight him again but I’ll fight whoever I gotta fight to get back to him if that’s not the case.’”

Insomnia

Uber-prospect Aaron Pico meets another streaking lightweight, Henry Corrales, on Bellator’s Fedor-Bader card.

Very normal rankings

Demetrious Johnson is doing well over in ONE…

… but the rest of the UFC flyweights just got their pink slips, or will soon.

Jose Torres and Justin Scoggins weigh in:

Lando Vannata is also a free agent. Despite his 1-3-2 record (that’s right, two draws) he is an exceptional action fighter and would make an interesting addition to any lightweight division he might land in.

At first I thought Vannata was being a little delusional but he does get his feet crossed right before the punch lands and knocks him down. He fought like someone trying to learn a new style but hadn’t mastered it yet; hopefully he figures things out going into free agency.

Floyd Mayweather walked back that RIZIN announcement quickly- but what are the chances he still ends up fighting Tenshin in an exhibition match?

Congratulations to UFC featherweight Megan Anderson on the tattoo magazine feature

Israel Adesanya, the inimitable.

Dustin Poirier working the bag.

Henry Cejudo has really good hops

This is an old video but I never noticed the guy getting up and punching his own friend before. He must have been out of it.

Alright, that’s a pretty funny line from Cowboy Cerrone. He and Mike Perry don’t seem to have any hard feelings about punching each other in the face.
