Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Nate Diaz did not take the McGregor-Khabib announcement well. Perhaps he wanted to be fighting on that card.
I’m not fighting on that show fuk the @ufc
— Nathan Diaz (@NateDiaz209) August 3, 2018
He elaborated further in the above video, stating he isn’t certain he will be fighting Dustin Poirier on the stacked UFC 230 card in Brooklyn. He detailed why, explaining his frustrations with the UFC, who he feels have been underpromoting and misrepresenting him. Diaz claimed he was dealing with a lawsuit that he said made him ineligible to fight, and denied he had ever turned down a bout. He seemed open to continue with the Poirier fight, but said the UFC had better ‘overpromote’ him to make up for their past transgressions.
When asked who he was picking between Nurmagomedov and McGregor, Diaz showed his finest form, scornful dismissal.
I whipped ones’ ass, and I slapped the f*** out of the other one. so they’re both my little bitches. That’s who I got.
Interviewer: You slapped Khabib?
Diaz: F***, Right in his face, he didn’t do shit. Scared for his life, him and all his Russian friends. From a third-world country? I’m from Stockton. He got his ass slapped, blap, didn’t do shit. All their eyes lit up. They’re all pussies.
TMZ: You want the winner?
Diaz: I am the winner.
Dustin Poirier, Nate Diaz’ opponent in the co-main event of UFC 230, poked some fun at Diaz’ reaction to the Nurmagomedov-McGregor announcement.

Let’s hope they are fighting. UFC 230 will be better with them on the card.

Strikeforce’s Scott Coker had an interesting proposal for Tito Ortiz in 2009 that never came to fruition

Darren Till towering over an amused Tyron Woodley
Darren Till and Mike Perry have become friends after calling each other out on Twitter, and it’s a Fight Pass reality show waiting to happen.
Forbes featured an article by economist Paul Gift that detailed the latest of the UFC’s side of the depositions in the anti-trust case, which they are hoping gets thrown out at summary judgement. This drew commentary from Project Spearhead’s Leslie Smith. The Reebok deal has been a bad one for the fighters, who saw their ability to generate independent revenue cut dramatically, by up to 90% in some cases.
I hope fighters read this article and see how they are talked about and realize the need for collective bargaining. To the UFC fighter performance is a product and their personalities and lives are insignificant. #CollectiveBargainingTime https://t.co/vfNkt0Wz3C

It was, however, important for the UFC’s brand appeal to mainstream media.
Execs aren’t going to see fighters griping or the money they might lose. They’re just going to say “great, I don’t have to deal with Condom Depot”
— Zane Simon (@TheZaneSimon) August 3, 2018
Yep. It, the USADA deal, Fight Pass, these added to a very centralized, singular brand that has proved time and again that they can exercise a ton of control over their workforce.
