Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA) collaborations are all the rage right now, and neither Dana White nor Floyd Mayweather intend to be left behind. Mayweather officially retired following his August 2017 victory over Conor McGregor, but the boxing legend also competed in an exhibition match against Tenshin Nasukawa at Rizin 14 on New Year’s Eve 2018.

Just about two hours ago, Mayweather hinted that something big was brewing in the works between him and White:

On its own, that post does not imply much, as it could merely mean one of the fighters that Mayweather represents could be competing soon inside the Octagon or with Zuffa Boxing. However, Mayweather followed it up less than an hour later by announcing an end to his retirement.

One has to assume these to posts are connected, but what does it all mean? The most likely bet is definitely a rematch with Conor McGregor, but one has to wonder how much Mayweather’s preexisting contracts would interfere with such a bout. Perhaps he’s looking for another exhibition match of some kind? Of course, there’s always the realistic chance that it’s all nonsense, but there’s probably still a goal behind getting everyone excited.

Stay tuned for any updates!

My fight write up posted earlier today, and I greatly appreciate everyone who took the time to read and watch. The highlights are below — and admittedly out of order — but the article explaining it all can be read HERE!

Well, this is certainly creative.

Yoel Romero seems to be merchandising his catchphrase “I luh juh.” Personally, I’ll wait for the “No For Gay Jesus” apparel, but I do wonder if there’s a stencil of Romero kissing Luke Rockhold on the back of the hat.

Luke Rockhold moving into the world of jiu-jitsu is a really smart move — that man can grapple!

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is expanding upon her tooth-removing abilities, which were already scary enough.

“Just be yourself.”

This clip made the internet rounds a few years ago now, but if you have not yet seen it, it’s incredible footage.

Midnight Music: Yes, I’m still working through both my 1001 albums book and all the Billboard Hot 100 Singles, but I’ve set a new goal to listen to more of the classic blues albums that I’ve neglected.
