Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania, where Bantamweight beef is almost always on the menu!

Tonight’s entree is courtesy of Cody Garbrandt and Sean O’Malley, who are once again jawing at one another on Twitter. It’s been several months since the knockout artists last exchanged words, but time has done little to cool hot tempers.

When Garbrandt took a shot at Jake Paul and his attention-seeking antics, O’Malley took the opportunity to mock the former bantamweight champion.

Naturally, Garbrandt did not take the insult lying down. Instead, he attacked O’Malley’s durability and labeled the strike “soft,” undoubtedly referring to O’Malley’s pair of ankle injuries. One of those injuries cost O’Malley his first professional defeat to Marlon Vera, sending him from the Octagon on a stretcher.

When O’Malley responded with the simple request of “fight me,” Garbrandt promised to end things violently.

Recently, Cody Garbrandt was set to challenge Deiveson Figueiredo for the Flyweight title, but COVID-19 and various long term health consequences delayed that bout. “No Love” was initially looking to rebook that fight for the title at a later date, but Figueiredo’s “Fight Of The Year”-worthy draw with Brandon Moreno will likely result in a rematch.

As such, Garbrandt has shifted his focus to Henry Cejudo and now O’Malley.

Meanwhile, O’Malley is still on the sidelines since his first pro loss, and it remains to be seen who he’ll face in his return.

Insomnia

Matheus Nicolau is really good, only 27 years old, and should never have been released in the first place. This is great news for the Flyweight division, yet bad news for other top 125-pounders!

This is one interesting way to train reaction time and head movement!

Some stats ahead of this weekend’s main event:

Weili Zhang is so athletic! Here’s hoping her bout with Rose Namajunas does happen despite recent rumors otherwise.

Kamchybekov stepped all the way through on this right hand.

UFC vet Nah-Shon Burrell rolled after his right hand and dropped a hammer of a left hook to land this stoppage win.

Collin Huckbody was the guy released from UFC without ever making his debut a couple weeks ago. Think this head kick gets him a real shot?
