Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA, each and every weeknight

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Khabib Nurmagomedov is still figuring out his future, and unfortunately for the lightweight division, that might take a little while. Transcript via MMAJunkie.com:

“Honestly, I don’t know nothing about my comeback. We have to wait,” Nurmagomedov said during an interview with Submission Radio. “… Maybe they gonna give me nine months or one year. I don’t know.”

There have been conflicting reports as to who Khabib wants to face next. He explains this is due to the number of different perspectives from those on his team- his father, his coach, his management, and himself all have different ideas for what should come next. In his mind, though, McGregor is not deserving. This could potentially pave the way for the Cowboy-Notorious matchup Donald Cerrone called for after his win last weekend.

“I have a big team – you know, my father, Javier Mendez, my management. And everybody thinks a little bit different,” Nurmagomedov said. “If you talk about it, my father thinks different, Javier thinks different, my management thinks different.”

“Right now, if you guys ask me, of course (McGregor) no deserve title shot,” Nurmagomedov said. “He lose. He tapped. It wasn’t a close fight. I dominated him everywhere in every aspect. I beat him. Like I told, I smashed him. Why we need rematch?”

If not McGregor, who then does Khabib want next? Fight fans will be overjoyed to see Tony Ferguson is on his list… and perhaps less overjoyed by the other two names. Georges St. Pierre would admittedly be a huge fight with a ton of interest, if not a deserved matchup, but why is Floyd Mayweather’s name being considered? Does anyone alive need to see Floyd return to box another UFC fighter?

“I don’t know right now, but why not maybe (Georges) St.-Pierre, (Tony) Ferguson and (Floyd) Mayweather?” Nurmagomedov said. “It will be these three guys, and we can retire and become the greatest athlete of all time.”

Maybe if enough of us shout from the rooftops that boxing Floyd won’t improve Khabib’s legacy towards being the greatest of all time, he will hear us and reconsider his priorities.

Gregor Gillespie had his baggage stolen and put out a message on social media that he just wanted his wallet and personalized mouthguards back.

He’s got five finishes in a row, incidentally, the longest finishing streak in the UFC right now.

According to these statistics, the first UFC on ESPN+ event was a smashing success that captured a lot of the UFC’s fanbase. Hundreds of thousands of you signed up.

Well…

This is wild. Hopefully Dillashaw returns to his old form at bantamweight.

Dan Hooker says what a lot of us were thinking- that Greg Hardy took the easy way out by DQing himself for a loss.

Dillashaw refuses to accept his loss as a loss.

Who let the Serra Longo team sit together?

Look at Donald Cerrone go.

He’s earned this if he does indeed get it

Dustin Poirier is looking for a title shot next, and he richly deserves one. Lightweight is far too crowded with worthy contenders right now. If Khabib doesn’t make it back to the cage for a minute, then Poirier vs. Ferguson for another interim belt is the fight to make.

Joanne Calderwood vs. Jessica Eye sounds good to me, but Eye probably gets the next title shot instead

I love these

Dennis Bermudez was one of the first fighters I began to actively follow because I was friends with one of his high school acquaintances. He had an exciting UFC career, including this gem, which could very well have been fight of the year. I’m glad he went out on top.
