Welcome to Midnight Mania!

There is quite arguably no fighter more decorated than Georges St. Pierre. The Canadian martial artist ruled the Welterweight division for the better part of a decade, racking up an absurd number of title defenses in the process, winning largely in effortless fashion. Then, he retired for a few years, returned up a weight class, and dethroned Michael Bisping to win another world title!

It was incredible work, but the odds makers don’t peg him likely to do it again. Dana White recently commented that he would be open to Khabib Nurmagomedov fighting “GSP” for his 30th pro fight — assuming he’s able to get passed Justin Gaethje on October 24th. Previously, both St. Pierre and Khabib expressed major interest in the match up, but White was the opposition.

With that major obstacle cleared, the bout appears much more likely, resulting in a surge of betting interest. As such, SportsBetting.ag has released opening odds for the match up, pegging Nurmagomedov as a 2-1 favorite at -200. Meanwhile, St. Pierre stands as a significant — but not overwhelming — underdog at +170.

While St. Pierre historically is almost never the underdog, it’s not difficult to see why this bout would be an exception. Khabib is undefeated after all, a dominant champion at the height of his powers. Alternatively, St. Pierre is 39-years-old and likely will have spent over three years on the sidelines by the time this bout materializes … if it ever materializes.
