Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Ryan Hall’s struggle to find a fight continues, as the jiu-jitsu ace has managed to compete just four times in five years on the UFC roster. He did win each of those fights, most recently handing Darren Elkins a decision loss in July of 2019. Per the man himself, half of the top 10 at Featherweight has turned down fights with him!
He’s now adjusted his target just outside those ranks, requesting a showdown with No.11-ranked Dan Ige. “Dan Ige is a warrior who always puts on a great show, has clearly demonstrated a willingness to test himself against the best, and we’re next door in the featherweight rankings,” Hall wrote on Instagram. “What do you think, @dynamitedan808? Fight Island in January?”
Last time out, Ige saw a six-fight win streak snapped by the heavy hands of Calvin Kattar. However, Ige has proven himself a well-rounded and very game opponent, a jiu-jitsu black belt who would likely stand as the toughest test in Hall’s career.
Whether Ige or someone else, Hall is 35 years old and currently ranked in one of the deepest divisions. It’s time to get that guy a fight!
Insomnia
Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling beef on Twitter! I score this exchange 10-9 for “No Mercy,” largely for conciseness.
Your “high pace” won’t break nobody except yourself. Your strikes not precise or strong enough. When I will hit you, I will hurt you. When you go reaching for my legs, you will be lying tanning just like Askren https://t.co/VNPJWgsIDW

I really wish this clip existed when I wrote an article about the similarity in Anderson Silva’s most famous punch vs. his most recent loss.

Paulo Costa’s right kick has always impressed me in his fights … but these kicks look a bit slow. Perhaps the end of a session?

Close range head kicks are the coolest! High risk, high reward.
