Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!
Welcome to Midnight Mania!
For years, fight fans have been complaining about the general lack of creativity in UFC posters. There’s three or four formats that UFC tends to rely on over and over, and given the number of events each year, it doesn’t take long for things to get stale. Take a look for yourself in our massive archive of UFC posters HERE — they’re all pretty similar.
Well, in a hilarious moment of cruelty, the UFC design team was forced to read the mean comments and criticisms of the general internet.
Reading internet comments is almost never a good idea, but segments like this that feature unbridled aggression are a lot of fun so long as you’re not the person being attacked! I do feel for the design team. I imagine they have limitations about readability that restrict creativity, and UFC scheduling is unrelenting. Plus, every once in a while, they do crank out a pretty cool poster like this article’s featured image.
At the same time, it’s easy to understand why fans are unimpressed when someone like BossLogic is just outclassing them at every turn.
Complete set of wide UFC posters – as soon as I get back from this con I’ll upload them in high res for you guys 🙂 pic.twitter.com/PArLWyGTcL

Speaking of awesome graphic design! Thiago Santos is one of very few men who could pull off the giant hammer tattoo without looking a fool.
Paulo Costa’s cardio is really good considering his huge muscles and power-based style.
Amanda Nunes has generally been a lot funnier and more personable since winning her second title.
Earlier this year, Amanda Nunes (@Amanda_Leoa) told a Brazilian outlet that maybe her next fight would be her last. She now says, she didn’t mean that. So, why’d she say it? This might be, pound-for-pound, one of the greatest one-minute clips of any interview I’ve ever done. pic.twitter.com/8ZBGJhfjLy

Sign me right up for Manhoef vs. Wanderlei Silva — but please protect old Fedor.
Dutch MMA star Melvin Manhoef fancies one more @BellatorMMA bout on home soil before he hangs up his gloves for good, and on Saturday night he told me he has a shortlist of two MMA legends for his dream farewell fight. pic.twitter.com/9Gxw8Uytmh

Where would you rank Floyd Mayweather among the all-time greats?
In general, I don’t know how much I buy into these methods for “training reaction time,” but improved hand speed is always a positive!

“Beefcake” packs a punch.
They might call him @JoeJitsu but don’t discount his right! #UFCMinneapolis pic.twitter.com/fegkNngDKk

Each of the four knockouts is very worth-watching.
One of kickboxing’s surging talents, 22-year-old K-1 champ Yoshiki Takei. The super-bantamweight body snatcher potentially fights 3x this Sun in the K-1 -55kg GP.

When in such a dominant, difficult position like reverse triangle, sometimes the easiest submission available is just forcing the arm to bend in any way that seems unnatural.

Do me a favor and follow the Instagram account Canis Ranch. Run by a semi-retired fighter friend of mine, Canis Ranch proudly continues to tradition of skateboarders hurting themselves and doing stupid, dangerous, and mildly illegal things for the entertainment of the masses.
If you enjoyed the antics of the Jackass crew, you won’t be disappointed. Eagle-eyed readers might be able to spot Mania’s own Mr. Andrew Coyne making a brief appearance above, but he’s also the one crashing the scooter below. I consider it a personal goal to someday make it on one of these highlights despite my complete inability to skate or snowboard.
Midnight Mania Music: The world never knew how badly it needed Chief Keef and Bon Iver featured on the same song — another album in honor of Benavidez fight week.
Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
